As part of the University of Minnesota's Applied Economics Colleges in the Schools program, Concord Coalition's Midwest Regional Director will conduct a chart talk and interactive budget exercise "Principles & Priorities" with more than 400 AP economics students from high schools around the Twin Cities metro area.
Following the budget exercise, students will hear from former Minnesota congressman Tim Penny about the on-going federal fiscal challenges and political atmosphere that helps or hinders progress.
Principles & Priorities is our flagship exercise that has been used in hundreds of High Schools, Colleges and Universities across the country. In it, participants make decisions about the best combination of program spending and tax policies to match with their larger sense of what the principles behind our budgets should be and what priorities the government should place at the forefront of fiscal decision-making.
