The Conservative Breakfast Club (Downtown Des Moines) hosts The Concord Coalition and Fix the Debt for a breakfast forum devoted to discussions about the national debt and deficits, and pragmatic solutions for improving the long-term fiscal outlook and that can achieve bipartisan political support.
The featured speaker is Alice Rivlin (bio below) and will include Sara Imhof, Midwest regional director for The Concord Coalition, and David Oman, former Chief of Staff for Governor Branstad.
Alice M. Rivlin is a senior fellow in the Economic Studies Program at Brookings and a visiting professor at the Public Policy Institute of Georgetown University. Ms. Rivlin has served as vice chair of the Federal Reserve Board (1996-99); director of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB); and was was the founding director of the Congressional Budget Office. Ms. Rivlin was named by President Obama to the Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. She also co-chaired, with former Senator Pete Domenici, the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Task Force on Debt Reduction.
The Concord Coalition has partnered with the Campaign to Fix the Debt to host a series of public engagement events across the country. Each program will include speakers of diverse ideological perspectives and suggest options to achieve a comprehensive plan to fix our long term debt and deficits.
