WASHINGTON — Concord Coalition Co-Chairmen Warren Rudman and Sam Nunn and
President Peter Peterson announced today that effective immediately, Robert L. Bixby has
been appointed Executive Director and Paula Price has been named Director of Operations of
the fiscal watchdog group. Bixby and Price
have both been with The Concord Coalition since its founding in 1992. Bixby most recently served as Policy Director and
Price most recently served as Deputy Director.
“I’m extremely pleased to announce the promotion of two of The Concord
Coalition’s most valuable employees who have been with us from the beginning — Bob
Bixby and Paula Price. Bob will put his
substantial strategic and analytical talents to use as our new Executive Director, while
Paula will put her significant managerial and organizational skills to work as our new
Director of Operations. Together they will
help The Concord Coalition trumpet its message of fiscal discipline and generational
responsibility to communities around the country and in the halls of Congress well into
the next century,” said former Senator Rudman.
Bixby started his career with The Concord Coalition as a volunteer State Director
in Virginia, Tennessee and West Virginia, and was later appointed National Field Director
before becoming Policy Director in 1997. He
replaces Martha Phillips, who now serves on Concord’s Board of Directors. Bixby has a bachelor’s degree in political
science from American University, a juris doctorate from George Mason University School of
Law and a master’s degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of
Government at Harvard University. Prior to
joining The Concord Coalition, Bixby served as Chief Staff Attorney for the Court of
Appeals of Virginia, and practiced law in Fredericksburg, Va. In 1992, Bixby served as Virginia Co-Chairman of
the presidential campaign of former Senator and Concord Co-Founder Paul Tsongas.
Price initially served as Concord’s Regional Field Director for the states
west of the Mississippi and was later appointed National Field Director. She received her bachelor’s degree in Russian
history from Ohio State University and her master’s degree in education from Arizona
State University. Prior to joining The
Concord Coalition, Price taught elementary school and special education, and worked for a
variety of national, state and local campaigns. In
1992, she served as State Director in Arizona and Wisconsin for Paul Tsongas’
presidential campaign. Price has also served
as Chief of Staff for a U.S. Representative.
The Concord Coalition was founded in 1992 by former Senator Warren Rudman (R-N.H.),
the late Paul Tsongas, former Democratic Senator from Massachusetts, and former Secretary
of Commerce Peter Peterson. Former Senator
Sam Nunn (D-Ga.) joined Rudman as co-chair of the organization in 1997. The Concord Coalition is a nonpartisan,
grassroots organization dedicated to balanced federal budgets and generationally
responsible fiscal policy.
