Three congressional candidates in New Hampshire expressed concerns about the federal budget and discussed possible solutions in live-audience television interviews at a “Fiscal Fridays Festival” in Concord last week.
The event was co-sponsored by NH1, The Concord Coalition and the Campaign to Fix the Debt. The 30-minute interviews were live-streamed on NH1 and recorded for later broadcast as well.
The festival came after the “Fiscal Fridays” interview series had featured 14 candidates for the presidency and New Hampshire congressional seats earlier this year. Last week’s event took place at the Warren B. Rudman Center at the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
Candidates who agreed to participate in the latest interviews were Frank Guinta, the 1st Congressional District Republican incumbent; Shawn O’Connor, an entrepreneur who is running as an independent in the 1st District, and Jim Lawrence, a businessman and Republican who seeks to represent the 2nd District.
The interview topics included Social Security, Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, defense spending, individual and corporate income tax, and the stopgap spending legislation for Fiscal 2017 that Congress recently passed.
Some campaigns also had tables with additional information for voters.
